Looks like the ballhead of my Manfrotto tripod has packed up, just in time for the holidays! :( No matter how much I tighten the Friction knobs it makes no difference, boo. Aside from that gripe, Merry Christmas everyone, hope you and your respective families have a very happy holiday season!

Just popping in to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and I hope everyone has a goodun over their time off, I'm enjoying my 12 days off so far, spent today in the rain, wind and everything in-between to get some aircraft snaps after a quick shopping trip. Quite happy with this one take at 1/40th

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I got a nexus 7 which I am getting used to, can anyone recommend some apps thinking of something for word as well as anything else you can think of.

Morning all. I hope everyone had/is having a great Christmas! I guess I am another of those that has not done much photo wise this year so struggling to come up with a worthy entry for SOTY.

As always, this depends largely on what you want to do but for Word like stuff, Polaris office is free and excellent as is Kingsoft Office. Other apps that I like are:

1. All the catchup TV apps - iPlayer, 4OD, Demand 5, ITV Player, SkyGo (if you have a Sky subscription)
2. TuneIn Radio - great for listening to UK and foreign stations Cindy like to listen to Jacaranda in Pretoria as the music is good and the weather forecasts are better than ours!!). Also great for listening to UK stations when abroad
3. Evernote - keep to-do lists synced across all your devices - Windows, iPhone, Android
4. Amazon Kindle
5. OneCast - best free podcast app out there
6. MX Player - best movie player app
7. ES File Explorer - best file management app
8. Google Drive and/or Dropbox - good for backing up important stuff from any device and being able to access it on any device
9. Avast Anti Virus and anti theft
10. Swiftkey - paid for keyboard app. Free trial available. Beats the pants off any built in keyboards and certainly the best £2.99 you will spend on your tablet!

Other staples should be, Skype, Chrome, Facebook,Flipboard, 500px, Netflix (if you have a subscription), IMDb.

After that, most of what I have is specific to my foriegn travels - Worldmate, XE currency converter, World Clock plus various public transport and taxi apps for sundry foreign cities.

HTH
