speedsync, my first step up from a 5MP P&S was the Panny Lumix FZ-18. I have many good images taken with it on our trip to Europe a few years back. I've always wondered if the LX line could do as well as other mirrorless bodies.

It depends on how big you want to print, really. It only has 10MP from memory, and the extra MP from the other formats can be very beneficial when cropping etc. You also have to work a lot harder to knock the background out of focus with the LX. Small sensor syndrome. You have to be more deliberate when positioning your subject in relation to the background. Sometimes that's just not possible.
The LX7 has really really good IS. Combined with the real shorter focal lengths, you can shoot at crazy slow shutter speeds. No good is the subject moves though
It also flares or ghosts a wee bit at night with point highlights. But it's sharp wide open at f/1.4. I find it about roughly equivalent in low light to a crop (T2i/550D) with f/2.8 lenses in low light. Not at high ISO though.I love the manual controls, the aperture ring on the lens etc etc. I wish all lenses still had aperture rings now.
It's all swings & roundabouts really. Every system has its advantages & disadvantages. It's really up to you to decide what works for you, the best compromise so to speak, and the best way to do that is get hold of the cameras you're interested in, & try them for yourself Sometimes it's just not possible though.

PS I'm not knocking the M here, or trying to dissuade people from buying it, so the princesses can unbunch their knickers right now.

That'd be cool. I'm looking for a good glove box camera to leave in my car so I don't get stuck without a camera when I see something interesting. The Panny LZ10 I have now just doesn't cut it and I use my M too often to let it sit in the car all the time.

Well finally got mine yesterday and so far has been taking nice photos! I haven't gotten to play with it much as we had Christmas at our place so I hope in the next few days I can play with it some more.

Yep, and I got mine on Amazon a couple months ago with 18-55 for just under $350. Then grabbed the 22 on newegg for $100. Still plenty of deals to be found.

Yup 22, you won't want to take it off the camera.

the 22 is such a good lens.

If only it has IS it would be perfect
