isn't the macro working distance ridiculously small? i don't think it's usable on bugs for instance, because you need to get super close to the subject...
you could get a 24-105L, and a 100mm macro, and still have $200 left over in your pocket
For bug macro,the little working distance not very important, both working distance will scare out the bug. But I found too close to subject will have cast shadow on the subject and for bug 0.7x is not enough because I always not enough with 1:1 macro lens. But the Macro mode is very useful for others things, i do hiking a lot, sometime two lens add a lot burden, 24-70 f4 is almost perfect. Now I am thinking which tele lens to pair with it.
