The game will last 7 days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only. Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #502".

Submissions end, Tuesday December 31st, 2013 at lunchtime(ish) and a winner will be announced.

Here's this week's subject . . .

Part of a pano from my recent trip to San Fransisco. Good luck with the weakly composed Golden Gate Bridge. :)

brought some detail out of the shadows, increased contrast, added some warmth and a touch of green to the temp, moved tree branches over to balance the image. removed some real small birds
used adaptive wide angle tool in PS to level horizon and set center spire straight. cropped and resized.

Meant to add a note here. the center column is actually straight and vertical, the way the shadows fall causes it to look like it is curved. An optical illusion worth remembering. a fisheye lens helps figure out ways to work around, or exploit some of this effect.

I've always been a photographer, but I haven't always had a camera.

well I started in lightroom 4 did a 16x9 crop, desaturated a little, did a graduated filter from the top down to help the sky, turned down the highlights, warmed it up a bit, saturated the color of the bridge a bit more
then I exported and opened in photoshop CS6 to give it a little more of a film/vintage look and content awared the tree out of the sky.

Dupe layer and desat, then reduce opacity to about 20%.
Add Gradient map with teal to orange gradient, reduce opacity to about 15%.
Add Gradient layer with yellow and adjust to fade from right to left, reduce opacity to 15%.
Cropped to 2.39:1 and added black bars.

I hate judging :)
Especially when there are multiple great edits.

T3heavyshop-that tree branch move was clever and balanced it very well. Although pushed to the point of halos (on my monitor), i like this edit a lot.

Frenchfx- bright, vibrant, lively... The way that i remember that day. The sun flare/positioning pulls my eye away from the subject, but great work on the image! Knoll light factory?

NigelD- This edit shows how off my horizon was. Nice work. Sharp, but not oversharp and clean with nothing in the sky.

Tcrooks- nailed the vintage look... That hazy look is how the bridge normally looks. I was lucky (according to the locals) to have a clear day. :)
Nice work.

Msix- Nice edit. The green/desat really works with the 239 bars. Looks like a still from "Cloverfield"... I keep waiting for the monster to jump out of the water (not a gif though :) ) clean with nice detail.

Take it t3...

I guess i ranked composition above other categories. That branch kinda leads your eyes nicely through the image.

I don't see T3's image any more, but I remember thinking the branch move was a good idea. Well done, T3.
