Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year period! I was having some problems with my ball head on my tripod as previously mentioned, but after a through clean and rebuild it seems to be good as new, which was essentially a late christmas pressie for myself! Only now getting round to editing some of my festive shots.

Lovely shot there Mark ^.

Just voted, boy that was difficult. There were at least 5 I really wanted to vote for - and the three I voted for I'd like to have voted joint winners because I'd hang all of them on my wall.

Totally had enough. With five dogs, this is a major pain in the backside. Damp towels, mud, yukky!
http://www.boredpanda.com …l-photography-edwin-kats/ (external link) some nice shots there - I particularly like the jumping towards camera squirrels.

There are some amazing shots on there Penel.

Thoughts peeps, If buying a Canon 100-300 L Would you keep the 70-200?

Cheers.

Been out of the loop for a couple of weeks while visiting family in Chicago. It was C-O-L-D and windy! Daily HIGH temperatures ranged -10C to -15C. At least we got out before the real cold hit -- Monday is supposed to get a HIGH of -23C (-40C with wind).

Would have loved to have gone out shooting some more in the snow, but the conditions were truly atrocious. The cold I can deal with. But the problem was that the wind was fierce, blasting snow sideways like sharp needles on the face and any exposed skin. Piles of snow and grimy slush meant soggy shoes and socks.

1. A relatively balmy -10C:

Hello folks,

I have arranged for Si Longworth, an Army photographer, to come and chat about his experiences in Afghanistan from a combat photographer's perspective. The talk is scheduled to take place on 20 January in Farnborough.

Please let me know if you will be interested in coming along.

Thanks
Graeme

Fuzz those pics are excellent - have you got any more to share? I particularly like the second one.

Graeme - I'm sure some of the guys will be interested, I'll let them know just in case they don't see your post.

Evening all

I hope you all had a great Christmas & New Year and that Santa treated you well :D

Lots of lovely images posted since I last called in ~ too many to comment individually, suffice to say all nice eye candy to enjoy on all sorts of subjects.

We went away to Sidmouth over New Year and a nice place it is too..........raging seas just outside the window to "enjoy" (thankfully we were in a second floor apartment) and surfingaction plus nice feathered friends seen at Seaton Marshes LNR (Redshanks, Curlew, Wren & Female Kingfisher) just need to catalogue them in LR and cull then PP et al to share. Oh, also spotted the Devon Air Ambulance on a shout.

@ Graeme ~ I would be interested in the talk, so I look forward to your advising the venue & time :D Edit ~ just checked the TP thread so you beat me to it ;) (my excuse is that I was away since I posted there).

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p
