Spent some time in Algonquin Park today

Really great shots Jeff! Grey Jays are my favs never get to see them in my neck of the woods but have seen them in my travels and always enjoy their company.

Great shots. Did you get a chance to checkout the feeders where Evening Grosbeaks often visit at the Nature Centre.

Yes I did Paul, there were male and female Evening Grosbeak's, Blue Jay's, purple Finches, Chickadee's, Hairy woodpecker, Gold finches at the Visiter Centre, o and a couple guy's from Alberta lol

Great shots. The Gray is one I've never seen.

Jeff you got some nice pics there,,never been to Algonquin in the winter,,do they plow some of the roads?? are they open all winter??

One of my favorite birds in my favorite park. Now, that weather, however.....nope.
Now, it was -43 this morning when I left for work, so maybe -35 could be seen as an improvement?

Yes Ronnie they are Algonquin Park never closes. The visiter centre is open on weekend's and everyday on holiday's. the restaurant is open with the Visiter Centre.

Mew camp ground is open for camping all year long and plowed. there have been people camping every time I'm in the park. don't know what its like in a tent at -35c

You know what Mike, I don't know what its like at -43 but -35c is so different that -25, it makes -25 feel warm so? how is your camera at -43?? at -35 my 7D gets very frosty in 10 or 15 min's

FYI i have had my old 40D out in -30F and it was good for about an hour,,but the lens (Sigma 17-70-OS ) got very sluggish before the camera ?/
