Dave amazing gull shots - there seemed to a real symmetry as they flew, and I guess that's totally needed.

Herelin - great shot from your travels - love the way people hang their washing from the balcony - noticed it in smoggy Shanghai also.

I know the first bunch of photos was terrible- one of the reasons I come here , is to learn, and sometimes you need to expose yourself to do that. (Pun intended)

MM thanks for your continuing encouragement.

And thanks for positive comments on skating shots - new genre, and very difficult, especially as I was very uncomfortable on the first day in terms of my physical safety. However it was okay, and on the next day one of the wardens took me under his wing, when I dared venture to the end of the main jump. He knew the boys well, and called a couple over to do their tricks. Actually tricks is not adequate - as this is real artistry and athleticism combined. I had no idea ....

Too cold and windy to do anything outside here yesterday.
Here's a couple pics I took with the 70-300L through my window.

This one has what I think is some motion blur as the branches were just violently rocking this blue jay around.

These are a little more creative, better use of the down time with our deep freeze weather.

With shots like you're now getting Rosey you don't need encouragement as much as applause. This thread is supposed to be to support the Canon 70D and that it does well but as you know we who participate get tons of support too. I do wish I could contribute more to the body of knowledge though...

are you still thinking to sell the 70-300L ?
i felt regret after i sold my best three lenses
24-105L
100L
70-300L
these two lenses must be together the 100L and the 70-300L for the crop and for the FF :D

I just don't think I can do it!
I think I'll be preordering the Tamron 150-600mm and keeping both.

Just took a look at your Flickr photostream, now I want to throw my camera gear away! What amazing work and stunning locations you've been able to photograph!

... The 70D once it finds focus initially (AI Servo first and second priority are set to slow and fast respectively) it locks on like a pit bull.

Could you elaborate on that, please? I do not remember reading about the AI Servo priorities, could you point me to where it is explained?

Was debating on which lens to get. I decided on the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM with a Canon EF 1.4X Extender over the 70-200mm IS II. Heard from a few people the sharpness goes downhill a lot with the 2.0X Extender. Sharpness seems to be tack sharp on the 300mm f4L so will see how it goes. Getting it at the end of the month.

Anyway...
