cant wait to see how good this lens will be. If they get a 24 with similar IQ as the 35 then I may consider going sigma.

Lol, I'll take you up on that. There's no way Sigma would price a 50 1.4 the same as a 35 1.4. Also, so far their old lenses that have been re-made as a "global vision" lens, has not cost more than $50 over the original price of the lens it replaced, so I say no more than $550.

$550 would be amazing. I was thinking around $600-650 just due to the extra elements it's using.

Finally! I've been waiting to get a new 50 and had a feeling sigma would be announcing a new one soon.

I think everyone has been waiting for a new 50.

every current AF 50 has drawbacks. maybe we'll finally get a 50 with no compromises required?

I wonder what the filter size is... 82?
Either way, It will probably an amazing piece of glass.

Well if it's anything like the 35mm then the af shouldn't be a problem, i haven't had a single problem with mine.

very interesting... I hope they fixed the AF on this lens. I had the sigmalux, and while it the bokeh was amazing, better than even the 50L, the AF was too hit/miss for my liking. If they fix this one, I think I might test the waters :D

Sigma will probably have to price it pretty close to the 50 1.4 though, to compete effectively. I can't see them going with a hefty premium considering that no matter how good a lens it is, its still 3P..

My last sigmalux had inconsistent AF. Loved the build and feel of it though. If this one solves the AF issue and is sharp wide open I'm in for one.

I much perfer the 50mm focal length. If this turns out to be a 50mm sig 35 then my 35 is gone and off to the 50 I go.

well once canon comes out with a 50mm f2 IS for $1,000 the sigma will look cheap again :)

I'm excited! :D

I've had two 50L's, both focused great with center points and were garbage on the outer points. If this things is accurate enough all around I will be getting one ASAP! I really enjoy the 50mm focal length.
