Retina Macbook Pro

For those that have them, is it really worth it for the retina display?
I have been looking at them, and really don't see a difference in the display.
The biggest difference for me would be the 1 pound less in weight, and the faster SSD.

Screen or no screen it looks like it would be worth it to you

If you're literally an inch from the screen its noticeable. The idea is that you cannot make out individual pixels. I'm like you, I cannot really notice a difference and I used to sell the darn things.

Part of me says, just put an SSD in the Macbook I have.

And the MBP you have is a quad core i7 running at least 2GH, with TB or TB2, with USB 3, with AC spec wifi, with 8 or 16GB?

Personally I would not invest a dime in an older MBP, especially if it is dual core. Sell it or past it on to kids in the family. Get a 2013 rMBP with 16GB of memory, at least a 512GB SSD, and as fast a CPU as the budget allows. Then you should be set for a great machine that should last you at least 3-5 years.

I rolled the dice on the above and have no regrets, money well spent. And the display YEAH simply beautiful. I use it as a way to display my work to perspective Clients and it has made the deal.

I picked up one last month. Love it. Quad Core i7 500SSD version. And yes the screen is very noticeable. So much that I am now redoing my website because all the images look blurry due to low resolution. Retina is where everything is going. Apple calls it Retina, PC makers call it High Vis or whatever else for high definition but it is quickly becoming mainstream. Amazing how snappy this little machine is. Just need to find a 27" retina monitor to go with it.

Remember that Apple has not said what resolution a 27" monitor has to have to be Retina.
