The currant one is not a bad 50MM but its not great either so what the point? Just buy the Canon 50MM 1.4 since no slouch plus the AF is 100X better that the currant Sigma offering. I am sure the new 50 A lens will be a good performer seems Sigma has really taken their share of the market quite seriously and they will put a dent into Canon & Nikon's market hold if the keep up Sigma 35 1.4 A lens type of quality.

I had the Canon 50/1.4 and I disagree. The AF was rather inconsistent, the lens was soft wide open with lots of CA, the build was sub-par, and the AF motor is known for dying (which is worse than needing calibration). -Tom

Yeah there has been a lot of bad feedback on the internet regarding the Sigmalux, but as with everything, people tend to complain more than praise. I was really happy with my copy and was sad to see it go. I may be looking into getting this one when it is out.

Jan 17, 2014 08:01 | #29 Getting close to the resolution of the Otus would be very impressive but, build quality needs to be there as well. The problem for Sigma will be price point. It will be a tough sell if it goes for more than a 50 f/1.2L. Considering how often I use my 50, I'd have a tough time going over about $600.
