im interested in this. Love my 35 1.4. Of the currently available 50mm's, none stand out to me as something I consider worth buying.

Don't you think 50mm is too close to 35mm?

I would love to have that lens. One of the best lens in the Canon lineup.

Patiently waiting on the 85 ART now. Never been a big 50mm fan but at least its a good sign that the 85 could be here sooner rather than later. No worries whatsoever with sigma focus issues after using the dock on my s35, very easy to get the lens set up so that its spot on at all focus distances

Sigma 85 is perhaps one of the finest Sigma lens ever made, right next to their 35 Art line. I've owned 3, never had issues with any of them.

i originally thought so too myself, until there was one shot i wanted to take the framing i wanted created a bit too much distortion to my liking...so now i am pretty interested to see how this 50 will turn out as well, particularly at which price point

THis x 1000...but I fear it may not be on the shortlist as someone mentioned above...:(

yep, I wouldnt mind owning both a 50 and 85. 85 can work as a walkaround lens for bigger indoor places, where the 50 is good pretty much anywhere. I try to avoid 35mm when possible to avoid perspective distortion, and I enjoy the clean normal look of 50/85, and love the 135 look.

there is a rumour that sigma is going to release firmware update to support some of the older lenses...which i think (and hope) will happen as it makes a lot of sense for sigma themselves as well with a lot of people probably putting off buying some of the lenses because they are waiting for newer versions to be dock compatible

hoping the new sigma comes very close to the 50L in optical performance. sure, it can't do f/1.2 but if the sharpness/contrast/bokeh are close at comparable apertures, then i'm in!

if the sigma 35 is anything to go by i think you won't have anything to worry about there :P

Have you considered the Samyang 24mm? Based on what I've read it's actually better for astro-photography than the L is ;)
