Thanks very much Macui, and I don't mind at all that you played around with my pictures. I am always happy with feedback and ideas.
My trip today wen't both very well, and disappointing. The "Zoo" (a place called Faunia in Madrid, Spain) was very nice ... but my pictures were 70% bad. I am not sure why, but I had a load of focus issues. Looking on the view-screen I thought I had nailed some really great shots. But as soon as I got them onto the PC I saw that the focus was all over the place on most of them! I really don't know what happened, and it was a real disappointment, but I guess I am looking at it as a learning exercise.
I'll try and post some of the pictures that worked when I can, and maybe another thread on "what happened to my focus" too (after I've done some searching to see if there is an answer out there).
I spent the majority of the day in AV mode (Canon 500D), F-5.6, ISO Auto and using my Sigma 70-300 DG Macro at max zoom and with the "Macro" switch on ... and the amount of out of focus shots was depressing ... out of about 400, I would say 300+ were rejected immediately!
Nevermind, there were some good ones ... but it wasn't what I had hoped for!
