2014? I think I'll pass attending this one. Anyway, I found the short photo essay interesting.

Looks like one would need a real sense of adventure to go to this place.

Sadly, I think the world has grown tired of the Olympics, especially the winter Olympics. Yes, they're fun to watch, but increasingly more and more expensive to host, and fewer and fewer desirable places wish to host them.

Now, we're down to Sochi for 2014, a ravaged city on the shore of a ravaged sea, with all the tourist charm of, say, Detroit(?). Where will we be in 2022? And do we really care?

I'm surprised. They failed to include vodka and a bear on a tricycle. The rest of the western projection on FSU life is alive and well.

Wow, I wonder how much money exchanged hands at the IOC for this place to be place to be picked over Salzburg.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Y'know, when I hear the word "olympics" my first thought isn't "sport", it's "corruption"...

Sheesh. The place looks sketchy at best. Corruption is right.

I guess the Olympics don't really mean as much as they used to. :(

I PRAY that no more people are killed before or during this Olympics.. So sad that there have already been losses of life before these games.

Very sketchy place indeed. I cannot imagine what the true cost of security there will be. I've heard estimates of more than $2billion.
