60d peeling issue poll

Do you have a Vendor/SKU Number/Part number for this grip?

How many to we need to order for a lifetime?

Does this grip balance well with my other paranoias... I am worried about aftermarket grips... My OEM (Original Equipment Mother) obviously did not include a grip in her design...???

It looks like yours is a little loose near the focus point selection buttons as well. It's raised. Push it down lightly with toothpick ad you'll see it has some movement.

There is absolutely nothing wrong and it is not peeling. Its been that way since new two years ago. Im sure if I go mess with it with a tooth pick I can lift the edge, on purpose that is..

Here, is a pic of my 60d rear grip

I cleaned up your image in an effort to see what the heck you are talking about and I still don't see an area of concern!

Between the focus point selection button and the plus button, the very edge where it meets the seam, is a bit like more pliable. If you look at it with a Loupe, you can see that the rubber is not as stiff and hs some downward movement, where if you go around the rest if the perimeter, it seems more stiff with no visible downward play. I'm sure yours is like this as well if you look. Sorry for the dark iphone photo.

Picked up mine used in 2010. As far as I could tell, it was in perfect condition. However, over the last 18-19 months I have been using it with the 100-400. I primarily carry it in one hand by the grip. Over time I stopped using a grip strap and also a sling strap with that combo. When I'm out in the field I just hand carry. I think that may have been what started the rubber peeling on both front and back grip as I put a lot of pressure holding the grip.

That's just a swag on my part, could just be a defect.

My covering in the specfic area you mention seems fine and I don't want to purposely attempt to lift an edge, which I gather you can do. Interestingly I do find that the way I hold the camera has my thumb right over the area you mention. I've mentioned before that I wonder if those that use a hand strap, as opposed to a neck or sling strap, aren't aggravating the issue.

If your camera is still under warranty why don't you send it in? Otherwise I'd be inclined to lift the area ever so slightly put a slight amount of the 3M adhesive under the rubber. Push the rubber back down, put something thick over the area and use a rubber band around the grip to hold things in place for 12 hours.

Might also have to do with useage in high humidity and light rain. I know it's not weather sealed but having been out and not prepared it has proven never to have had a problem in those conditions (yet!)

These boots were stored high in the basement, but we had a large puddle of heating diesel on the floor (possibly) for a few days... The sole separated from the last...

I haven't attempted to lift it, but if you push down, it seems softer. This particular camera has hardly been used. I think it has less than 2k on the shutter and I don't hold it by the grip ever. I use a neck stal and hold by the lens barrell. I am not saying to lift the edge, but if you push on the perimeter where he seam is, I bet it will go down a little.

It looks like your camera is a very early serial number.

Don't mean to high jack the thread.

It was the tomato fight that did me in. Had to keep wiping my lens to keep the tomato skins from clinging. My 60D looked like a tomato at the end. Sent in for a clean and check. They asked if I wanted the grips replaced, told them to go ahead and do it. Camera came back looking like brand new.
