I bought a Canon 70D this week and I cannot get the Wifi access point option to work with my Nexus 7 2013 or my Samsung Galaxy S3. I was able to connect my 70D to my Wifi network and see the device that way. But when on the road you won't always have access to a local LAN. When I try the access point mode both devices never see the 70D.

Any tips?

I´am using my 70D as WIFI access point, my Desire Z detects my camera almost instantly.
I would try reset the camera to default setting and immediately choose WIFI access point on 70D.

You have to go into the camera settings and enable wifi. You will then go through some sub menus to pair with your phone. I use my Galaxy S4 with no issues.

It took me a while to figure out how to connect to my Galaxy Tab 2. Turned out I hadn't properly gone into wifi settings on the tablet, enabled the connection to my camera, and entered the camera encription key before opening EOS remote. Now it will connect every time I enable WIFI on the camera. And you can enable wifi on the camera without going into the menu by going to quick setting screen on the camera.

Wifi was enabled. I still do not understand what fixed it. I took some more photos later that evening and when I ran the app on my Nexus 7 the 70D appeared. I made no setting changes.

Possibly then the wireless connection timed out when the camera went into sleep mode

The mode to use to connect directly to a phone or printer is AdHoc (Point-To-Point) Mode.

Infrastructure mode requires the use of a wireless router.

My Galaxy tab 3 and S4 phone also said the same thing ("unstable Internet connection") about my WiFi connection in several locations/networks... Both new devices to me too
Just told the tablet or phone to use anyways or turn off notifications and never comes up again...

Works fine with both..

If you are using a router to connect the two (infrastructure mode), stop doing that and initiate a direc/adhoc (point to point) connection from the DSLR. The camera itself will then become an access point that your phone can detect and connect to. The camera will generate a PIN that you will have to enter in your phone when you connect to the camera for the first time.

Use the EOS Remote app to detect and connect to the camera and you're done.

Bump for this thread. Ive tried the above and it connects just fine, but as soon i open the eos app that's when it drops connection. (Internet connect is unstable) I already deleted and re installed the app and still nothing. I even went to the local photo store and couldn't figure it out either. Seems like the app is sh*t?

I think its a bug.

Disable your mobile data connection and try again.

The app itself works fine, but could use some improvement.
