you can get about 1 or 2 on queensway drive based on the no parking sign location. (confirmed by a cop). But yeah, parking is limited., You can always park in the QM parking, but that will cost.

Good to know... Thanks Joe!!!

:D

PS. As Joe mentioned in the previous post, everyone is welcome to join us... I'll probably get there a little earlier than Joe (eta 5p-ish)...

Had a small group shoot today -- glad the weather was very nice and cooperative today:

As someone else already said "This shot works for me". Really nicely done.

Yup. this is at the park right by the Queen Mary. 2nd time hitting it up now. Using it to help me perfect the city lights shots. I think I am getting better.

You going back to that location sometime this week, Joe?

airbutchie wrote in post #16601833 (external link)
Possibly Thursday night...

Unless something comes up, I'd like to join in on this action. Been meaning to go back to Long Beach for a night shoot. Same as Joe, I can't make it in time for sunsets, so 6:30 or thereabouts sounds perfect.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Too bad it's a two hour drive for me...probably more with weekday traffic.

Great shots posted over the last few days, really like the night scape shots Joe.

Not sure how well you know Long Beach, just be aware the Queensway Drive and port access roads are well known gang hang-outs, they tend to look for wayward tourists. Guys with expensive camera gear are probably a target so the bigger the group the better. My friend is a LB cop and although there has been improvement in safety there has been some flare-up's in gang harassment and robbery. Not meant to scare you just use common sense and pay attention to your surroundings. Patrol in that area usually goes up after dark as well.

A quick change of subject. I was playing with manual focus using the focus magnification assist on my new Sony a7r with the Sigma 35 f1.4 lens. Here's a test at f2. The first image is full frame and the second is a 1024 x 768 crop at the point of focus. The 1024 x 768 crop sure looks tiny compared to the full 7360 x 4912.

I was up in LBC last night also. I brought my gear but didn't take any pictures though. We had go to meet some of the wife's brother's friends from Thailand and it was pretty late by the time we were ready to head out.

Hey guys, this up coming quarter (started today) I will be producing and directing my Junior thesis short film. It is a requirement of all film students that they meet and exceed a certain level of pre-production, production and post-production by producing a 4-12 minute short film, or short form of visual media, whether it be a music video, documentary ect.. To date, this will be the biggest short film I have produced, and will come second only to my Senior thesis project while attending the Art Institute of California.

I've started a kickstarter campaign with hopes of raising money to go towards the production costs of this film. If you guys could take a few minutes to look over the project page, and possibly share with friends and family on social media, or through email or word of mouth, I would be whole heartily grateful.

Of course, CC on my project page is always welcome and definitely appreciated!

I have a small travel tripod, and have a sock bean bag I use as well. Not very pretty, but stable. Use the sock bean bag on top of my car, on a chair, ect.

its a wide open space, no way anyone can sneak up unless everyone is in their eye pieces. Its about the same level of concern as the top of the hill.
