Looking at this lens myself
Anyone know the difference in the new and older model? They look nearly identical to me :( Massive difference in price though... 3 times.

They look completely different. Not one bit similar. Optics are the same though from what I recall. Also, from what I've seen, the new one is only a third more expensive ($3000 v $2000), although that was when the Aussie dollar was strong. Now it's more like $3400 v $2300.

So optically theres no real difference.. not worried about size.
Dunno how i posted 3x was supposed to be 1/3..

Thanks for the info.

Difference is that the new one can accept the Sigma USB dock to fine tune your AF.

which is quite important. And the dock is affordable. Also the new one is said to not suffer statistically from the QC issues of the previous generation.

Sold my EX DG OS, bought DG OS S
I haven't been out with it yet, but Im not really expecting any IQ improvements.

My initial thought:
Lens hood - Huge improvement
Love the customising and tuning ability.
Custom fast AF speed is awesome, hope it proves consistently accurate.
