Easy, shoot at high shutter speed, if very high even if you move your hands it will be frozen and sharp if in focus, try to focus to infinity and shoot at so high SS and see, and even in a moving boat i can focus and try hard to keep my hand less moving and shooting at high shutter speed

That is pretty much it.....Depending who was riding what, and what the boat speed was (how much we were bouncing around) I set iso anywhere from 100 to 500 and aperture around f/3.5 to f/4.0 which gave shutter speeds of around 1/2500 to 1/8000

Will post the last few shots with my lens during the next few days.
I just, very reluctantly, sold my 120-300mm sport... ;(

Another shot taken with the 1dx & Sigma 120-300 lens combo. Hand held from the stands under lights.

Also about a 60% crop to remove all of the background distractions, yet still fairly sharp.

Not best photo for demonstrate the power of the new "Sports" lense, but at least the subject is kind of sport. :o

They are shoot with the lense on itself, 1.4x TC (new version) and 2.0x TC (10 yr old version). Personally, I won't recommend the 10yr old TC to anyone as the degrading is not acceptable at all.

Welcome Felix.....I hope you enjoy the new lens as much as I am enjoying mine.

Sorry guys, but I get the feeling I will not be contributing many bird photos to this thread whatsoever.

Not looking for replies/sympathy, but just as an FYI my non sport OS model is back with Sigma for the third time in 18 months for AF repair. First time was the AF motor. Second time was the MR Sensor (I'm guessing motor rotation sensor or something like that), which relates to the AF. Now it appears to be the AF motor again. The lens hasn't been used since last August and when I wanted it for a shoot at the end of December I discovered the AF simply wasn't working (on any of five different bodies). Luckily I checked my kit the night before so I was able to swap in my 100-400. It would have been horrific to turn up with my "best" lens only to find it next to useless. Manual focus is so last century.

I took the lens to Sigma's UK service centre in person just after New Year and they said they will give it a daily soak test before returning it. That's all well and good, but if the AF can simply fail while left unused for four months, stored in warm/dry conditions (dining room), I'm not sure that will be much proof of anything.

If it carries on kicking up failure after failure I have my fingers crossed for a complete replacement (Sport model please), because this is quite ridiculous. None of my multiple Canon lenses have had any failures over the past 7 years apart from the tension adjustment on my 100-400. All AF and IS systems have worked without fault and continue to do so year after year. I hope you guys with the Sport model are having more luck.
