I've taken candids of my kids since their birth. as well as a couple new born sessions. This was my first go at a one year old. It was A LOT of fun! This shoot is one that I'm most proud of, let me know of any improvements needed!

Hi,

The second one is lovely - great expression ad nice tones. Third one is nice too, but I'd clone the red from the sweater as it's a bit distracting. First one has a good expression but I don't like the greyish skin tones...

First one is horrible. Looks like totally overexposed and you tried to fix it in post instead of in the camera. Composition isn't good. Subject smack in center - something running into his head in background.

Second one is a bit better but still looks a bit overexposed. Centered again. Subject seems a bit soft.

Third, again centered, eyes look a bit soft. It's exposed much better. Agree the red is distracting.

You could probably crop the left part of the second one off and have a better pic. The gray skin tones of the first really don't work.

skin tones of the first image sorry not working.......like the second image bit soft on the eyes
crop on the left to the end of the brick and a bit of selective sharpening on the eyes like the third .... Agree the red is distracting

Appreciate the feedback. On the first one. I blew out the background so brought the rest up to try an salvage because I like the composition of it. Was going for that soft back lit look

I will repost the original to see if anyone can come up with any good processes

Third. Don't wanna clone the red because it's on the shirt in the rest of the photos.

the photo was taken in portrait, so i ended up having to go to a 5x7 format, due to 2x3 was too narrow. brought up the black

On your re-done shots above, what are the circular patterns to right (as you view picture) of baby's head? Appear to be 2 sets of tracks there that may be clone or heal attempts?

thats a handrail i cloned it out on the left of the image, i tried removing them, but there was too much going on in the background and alot of contrasting i couldnt get it to blend well.

Thanks!
I was pretty much just letting him walk, and shooting and wherever he happened to have stopped, i took advantage of it. The sad part is he was easier to manage and shoot than some seniors I've recently done.
