Virtually certain that this is a Juv Peregrine Falcon. Found it while searching the runways at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland for snowy owls yesterday...Thought at the time he was carrying a mouse, but after looking at the shots, its a radio tracking band.

(A snowy owl at the airport from about a month ago ... quality sucks, but he was a long way off)

Nice, but that is a hybrid falcon, Gyrfalcon mixed with something and is for sure a lost falconry bird

Thanks, Tom the Peregrineflier ;) Lyle Washington

Really? I struggled to id it. In some ways it looked like a Prairie Falcon also. He was in the wild in Cleveland. Other shots have a better view of the radio tag and the foot band. His feet were not connected with the leather straps that are often seen on captive birds.

Makes it an even cooler find.

Yes, can I see more of the band pictures and such? Now days, they make the "jesses" to fall off for the safety of the bird.

Here are the photos specifically of the band and the radio. I after looking at some photos and other things it would be wrong to call him a peregrine, I think gryfalcon fits better, even if he is not a pure blood.
