Wow, those are some awesome shots! I wish Seattle got longer and colder winters with moisture. Its amazing that it rains here 250+ days of the year, but the moisture goes away when the temps drop below freezing.

Yep. The only reason the temperature drops out here is when we lose cloud cover, so cold days are almost by definition dry, other than the rare instances where you get some kind of inversion and end up with some precipitation.

And oh yeah, great shots, Matt!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Thanks, freezing temperatures like those I posted are pretty rare around here. I mean don't get me wrong it gets cold, but not usually cold enough to turn the bay into chunks of ice. It was 8 degrees when I shot the images...less than a week later it was in the mid 50's.

Mother Nature for ya!

The last post (image #3) is my favourite! I am sitting in 32' celcius at the moment here in South Africa, I feel cooler just viewing your photos!

Beautiful images but I need to put on a coat just to look at them.

Awesome weather over there! I really like the composition of your shots, but I am less enthusiastic about the post processing. You have lightened up the shadows considerably. I think that deeper shadows would have emphasized the coldness more.

Cheers, Helen
