It really does. I bought the EF 85/1.8 and returned it to get a second copy of this lens (the first one was returned due to a sticky aperture, not a common problem), it just renders in a much more pleasing way imo, even though the Canon is slightly sharper.

The Samyang 85mm is for me enough sharp at f/1.4, with buttery bokeh, and from my experience without noticeable chromatic aberrations. I'm not sure that the Canon 85mm f/1.8 is sharper at same f-stops (I have the Canon 100mm f/2 which performs equally to the 85mm, and I'm thinking to sell the 100mm...). The only advantage I see of the Canon's 85mm/100mm is of course the autofocus.

Having owned the Canon 1.8 and Sigma 85, I would put the Rok up against either of them. It is just as sharp, with a beautiful smooth bokeh. I regretted selling mine on the canon. But it was that, or no pics of me with my kiddos cause my poor wife couldn't ever get shots with manual lenses.

I must've had a really good copy of the 85/1.8 then, it was definitely a little sharper than both of the Samyang lenses I had at the same aperture. That said, it wasn't enough of a difference for me to keep it over the Samyang, everything else about the Samyang is better :)

Are there any focus confirm chips that play well with newer Canon bodies? I have a chipped adapter that gives me an "Update Firmware" error on the 5D3, SL1, EOS M, etc.

It could be difference in sensors for me. I shot the 1.8 on a 40D, the Rok on a 5D2, and the Siggy on a 1D3/1Ds2. Either way though, the Rok/Sam is a killer lens.

Agreed. I can't wait to get an EF adapter to try it out on my Fuji :)

The "135mm effective " 1.4 plus the X Trans sensor works really well. Gives a really good look to the images.

I can tell from your shots :) I'm going to try ordering one of the tilt adapters this week, from what I can tell you can lock them with no tilt so that I'm not forced to use the function

I've used this lens on my M though and it was great

Challenged myself to do an entire shoot with just the 85mm a while back. Here was one of the keepers.
