First real effort on my new 24-70:

First thing I noticed is the level of detail, even when at 100% is astonishing compared to my lenses.

I've been using Wasabi Power batteries in all of my cameras for years, no issues with any of them (in fact the OEM battery for my p300 dumped out on me, the Wasabi batteries still work great). Plus they come in a two pack with a spare charger ;)

+1 on the Wasabi 2 pack with charger!

Thanks!

I took my kids to visit Kelly Tarltons underwater world in Auckland this week.

A couple of shots from the trip. Shot through glass.

The female penguin on the far left was nesting an egg while the male in the centre was protecting her from the others who were getting too close.

I don't know who or what Amanda Palmer is, but that looks like one freaky party:lol:

Playing around this morning after my daughter woke me up at 6:30. Only ISO 5000, but I shot it in the dark (AF worked :D) and wanted the clock and wall wainscot to be detectable and it got a little noisy from that, but I still like it.

Howdy. I'm about to buy the 6D w/ 24-105 (Yeah, I've been saying it for a month) on the next price drop. I have to really pinch pennies, so-to-speak.

I'll have the camera, kit lens, and nothing else.....except.... I need a flash.

I'm wondering what's the most affordable flash I can get that isn't weak. I'm considering the 430 EX II. Will that suffice for general use? I can't afford the big boys. Also, I'd prefer to stay with Canon instead of an off-brand.

Thanks

430 EX II is perfectly adequate for me for casual use. Note, I am not a pro. You can pick one up for about $200 used.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
