Afternoon everyone. Spurred by the fact that my hometown was recently voted the UK ugliest town, I recently started a project entitled Hometown Glory to try and highlight some of the more attractive parts of the town! The project is still in it's infancy, but i've been out shooting pretty much everyday for the last week/10 days and i've managed to get a solid basis to start from, below is one of the shots. If anyone is interest in the "unsung beauty of Hemel Hempstead" (and why wouldn't you be!? ;) ) feel free to check the site out project out here (external link).

Hopefully this'll also give me an excuse to post here for frequently, instead of every know and then as has been the case!

Just got an offer of £500 for my 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro, reasonable?

Here if anyone here wants it too ;)

EDIT: checking eBay it seems not, they're going for more than I'm offering here on POTN so I'll stick by my guns.

I sort of forgot I had some pics left over from last year I hadnt processed, so here are a couple of some Red squirrels that were at Pensthorpe, Norfolk, when we were on hols there.

I believe these have now been reintroduced somewhere.

Taken through a wire fence but its not really visible.

aww these are lovely - I haven't been to Pensthorpe yet - keep meaning to but other things get in the way. We're hoping we might buy a holiday home in Norfolk this year so will be up there even more fingers crossed.

What's happened to the POTNSE 2013 shot - did I miss the results?

Nice Squirrels Linda. I love those little fellows.

On that note, is anyone planning to go to the Bwc during the school hols in February?

Thanks ever so much everyone for your lovely comments on the squirrels - fancy me forgetting I had them lol.

Penel: Its very nice at Pensthorpe and certainly worth a day out there.

On the subject (well, lets make it a subject) of doing things this year, I have my hols booked for South West Pembrokeshire at the end of June and hoping the weather is good as the 'must' is a trip to Skomer.

So, question is, for those that have already been there, should I use my 400mm F5.6L or my 70-200 F4L IS? I dont want to be restricted by being too close with the 400mm but unsure how far away I am likely to be from getting decent shots if I just have the 70-200. What do you recommend?

(I dont want to lug too much stuff so one lens would be my ideal.)

I used my 400mm the whole time Linda. And if I went again I'd do the same. In fact I think I borrowed Lee's 1.4 as well so I was shooting at 560mm.
