The Griffith Observatory is one of my favorite locations to shoot cityscapes. This was my First time doing an engagement here.

Critiques are always welcomed. Enjoy!

There are some more on my website!

Great scenes, lighting and processing. The couple looks a bit tight though. In every photo, the gal has the same expression and pose. By mixing up some different poses, you can induce emotion and maybe even some laughter.

Thanks Trent, Good advice. Posing my couple is my biggest weakness, and something I am still trying to work on. This being my third engagement shoot, I want to focus less on technicality and focus on interaction and posing the couple. I will keep that in mind!

Here are some different facial expressions from the couple

Those are great. Engagements, in my eyes, should be fun and filled with laughter. I love the first round of photos, but the mood was just a little too somber. Adding in these, helps a lot.

Wow great set! Super clean and sharp. What body/lens setup were you using? Also, pardon my newb question but, how did you get that 'spot' type lighting on the last shot of the first set?

I use a D800 with various lenses from my 70-200mm VR-2 to my Zeiss 135mm F/2. As for the spot light I used a lowell GL-1. It's costly buy it works so well! I used it as a fill lighting for the shots in front of the observatory.

Nice set! I wish I lived closer to LA to shoot at the Observatory. Any prior permissions required to shoot there?

There are plenty of photographers. I've never been asked for a permit ever. Thanks everyone!

A few years back, I witnessed a photographer and a couple thrown out for not having a permit to shoot there???
