Been doing a bit of sorting lately and finding a few unedited ones tucked away. This superb fairy-wren male in eclipse was shot at the Jerrabomberra wetlands in September 2011.

The striated pardalote male displaying was on Callum Brae just a couple of weeks ago.

And another couple of striated pardalotes from a couple of summers ago.

For some reason, there seem to be more striateds than spotteds around this year. If it doesn't rain soon, they'll all go away.

Yes, I remember last January all I could find were Spotteds and now it's the other wat round.
We do need rain bad, only 4 weeks ago I posted a pic of the wetlands looking grand, look at it now.

Love the shot of the grebe family. They did well with so many chicks (grebelings?)

A few from the Tharwa Sandwash yesterday.
There is a little bit of water in the Murrumbidgee still, but the dotterels are running up and down the exposed sandy bottom. Small birds still live in the wattle thickets along the banks, and the wombats must be finding something to eat because there is plenty of fresh evidence of their presence. I also saw what I believe to be the tracks of a lone deer this morning. I say deer because it would have been a mighty big sheep and deer have been seen on occasions.

Beautiful shots, Margaret. After working in the hot sun all day I have not been out to take any shots and last weekend down at the coast (not in the A.C.T.) I thought I would brave the heat and went out to Namadgi Visitor Centre this afternoon to get some shots to contribute to the thread.

Well good on you Shorty. It's been too hot for me these last few days. Been going through some old folders, and thought I might post these from a few years ago.

It was time to revisit Farrer Ridge this week. There appears to be only one tiny soak left with water for the wildlife. It is a patch of reeds, and in a few small depressions in the ground there is just a couple of centimetres of water. This, no doubt is seepage from Mt Wanniassa with which Farrer Ridge is contiguous. I set up my hide focussing on the only nearby tree, and these are some of the shots from that morning. Initially the light was bad, but slowly improved over a couple of hours.
