Just found this out today. A star in M82 went boom.......12 million years ago! Getting brighter by the day. Visible with good binoculars but not when it's cloudy :(

I wondered where the images were...

I'll try to photograph it tonight, if the clouds aren't being silly.

Very best,

I had a look with my large bins last night, it's quite clear if you use adverted vision.

Ok, the equipment is up and running. Damn it's cold! 12F right now and working its way down. I can see the SN clearly in a 5 sec exposure.

I got it too on my meager little WO 71 refractor. My 100mm triplet is undergoing a focuser repair ATM. :(. It is something to see though. Especially visually. Even with the refractor and a 7mm nagler it is bright enough to make out with naked eye (well through the eyepiece).

Taping up my fingers now as one actually cracked open. It's wasn't funny how cold it was. My car thermometer said 13 when I got in. I know it wasn't 13 but the wind sure could cut you in half!

Totally worth it. Just got home. Going to bed. Editing tomorrow!
