I recently acquired a 1DS Mark II from a relative, perfect shape, but no charger. The battery was dead when I got it.
Having relied on a 10D for the last year, I can't tell you how anxious I am to start using this full frame sensor with three times the resolution.
But I can't shell out $400+ for a Canon NC-E2 charger right now. I've searched and searched for a 3rd party replacement, but all I can find are chargers for the Mark III and newer, after they switched away from NiMH batteries.

Is anyone familiar with something that would work...perhaps a universal charger of some sort, with universal adapter pins?

Any input would be appreciated!

B+H and KEH both list used units for as low as $140
KEH has a battery for $30

You could try to get an original 1D with charger, shouldn't be more than $250.

Batteries, I use Lenmar NP-E3 replacements on my 1Ds, they work pretty good for the $30 that they cost.

Excellent suggestions.
In addition, you could also see if there is anything on ebay. Also FWIW, my experience is that the original Canon batteries are more reliable than the 3rd party ones that I have used with my 1DII & 1DsII. Good luck!

Thanks for all the input. I haven't yet done a nationwide Craigslist search...thats a good idea.
