No. This young lady was on the second lane from the wall and I had positioned myself in the little walkway (at the wall) that led to the service area behind the pin setters. I used a monopod and sat at the curtain between the lanes and the service area. It was shot at f/2.8 with my 400mm.

Thanks for the kind words.

have you thought about pulling back on the NR just a touch, looking plastic in this shot..

I was thinking the same thing. To me a little noise is more pleasing than lack of texture.

Would you be able to share your CR2 file for this?

What is your post production method? I only ask because even at the smaller size, I am seeing quite a bit of the noise being sharpened and adding a "gritty" look to the picture. I know the 70D is very capable at 12800, and would love to play with that file, it looks like a fun one to try some processing tricks on. :)

On a side note, that guy's eye looks bad. :(

it was my bad, i did quick sharpening after resizing to be able to post the picture here on forum and it popped up the noise pretty badly :/

i didn´t any NR at this time, sharpening did the rest :(

about the eye, it was probably caused by huge stress during x-mas, so many people out there...

Ah that makes sense.

Even with the pretty decent lighting as you had, 102400 still isn't very usable... yet. Give Canon some time though. :)
