Haha! So which prime and which macro would you choose?

Good range of lenses there. The 200L seems to be most people's dream lens. I'd like to get that one day.

Canon 10-22, Sigma 17-50 2.8, and Canon 70-200 2.8 IS would get me through!

Funny how 5 is not enough for so many. The more I shoot, the more I realize that 3-5 lenses is plenty fine and really I could live happily with my current 24,50,135 and TC.

I think too many lenses over complicates things. I had lots of lenses for crop, I am moving toward less lenses of greater quality.

Everything is relative.
Gear: 6D, Unholy Trinity:twisted: (24Lii, sigma 50A, 135L), and for the other ends of the spectrum, sigmaEX 14mm2.8 and sigmaEX 100-300F4.

Just opened the old time capsule here, and

From 2009:

I like the way you think  The 50 f/1.4 is probably going to be my next purchase, and will round out my 3 lens kit:
  • 24-70 f/2.8
  • 70-200 f/2.8
  • 50 f/1.4
I would put the 10-22 on there, but my gf bought it already and as such, I am off the hook on that one :)

From 2011:

I saw that I had posted in this thread some time in the past, so I had to see what I wrote: that was me, back in June of 2009  2 years later it seems I've almost come full circle, going from all zooms, to all primes, to none, to now a mixture. Just recently I think I've stumbled upon my Zen:
  • 24mm f/1.4L II (own)
  • 50mm f/1.2L (own)
  • 24-105mm f/4.0L (own)
  • 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II (own)
Let me check back in in another 2 years to see what's changed ;)

It's been about 2 years, and everything is about the same except the 24-105 has been swapped out for the 100L. I feel that I can shoot just about anything with this set up, aside from 'super-zoom' birds or sports.

  • 24mm f/1.4L II
  • 50mm f/1.2L
  • 100mm f/2.8L Macro
  • 70-200 f/2.8L II
One lens I am starting to consider: the Zeiss 21. Guess we'll see what happens in the next 2 years

I'm a zoom lover. Wouldn't mind having a crack at the 85L too, it will probably be my next purchase.

If business goes well this year I might treat myself to the 200-400 for Christmas.

Wow! Nice to see how much or how little your own gear changes.
I suppose, my old setup was:
T4i (650D)
10-22mm
17-55mm
50 1.4
100mm USM

Matt Don't underestimate that 40 stm on FF, it is fun! I thought I would not use it,
already having the 50 1.4, but it is the exact opposite for me.

Well.... I am going to have to issue an addendum to this considering I have shifted my priorities a bit here after a few years of shooting.

11-16 2.8
18-35 1.8
50 1.2
70-200 2.8
120-300 2.8

Now, that being said, if the 7DII isn't killer in the video department, the 11-16, 18-35 and 50mm are going to be rehoused/replaced with a cine gear version. Video pays the bills more often than not.

Just acquired a 6D and my kit for it is a 17-40mm, 50mm 1.8, and an 85mm 1.8. I also have a 70-200 F4 which my daughter has more than me and a Sigma 150 macro for special occassions. I may just see about getting by with the 17-40mm and 85mm.
