If you're gonna shoot fast stuff like kids running around or sports get the Olympus. If not the M is more than enough. The Sony system is not really much faster, I've used both.

Actually I used an EP3, not sure how the speed on the EP2 is. On the Sony side I've shot with a NEX-F3 and NEX-FS100.

I shoot mostly static subject, and some street, so I don't really need a fast AF, just a working AF! I'm thinking of this as an alternative to a compact camera.

To NBWeird: you'll like it. Hey, get this: I traded mine with Dwain for a lens and then my wife said, "you should have kept it."

Doh!

:D

Christine,

Looking at your Flickr and web site I see that you are shooting mostly subjects that are fairly static. I would think that unless you change your type of usual photography that you should be OK with an M. At least that's what I'm betting on since my M is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow!

It seems that we also share a profession. Good luck with your studies! :)

Dwain

Yes, they are fairly static (I don't really need the fantastic AF of the 5D3, but I won it)! Congrats, hope you will enjoy it!

Thanks! :)

It was on sale some weeks ago, so I think I will wait for another sale!

wow...won a 5D III? I would never be so lucky. If I entered a contest to throw something on the floor, I'd end up missing...

Hey, Dwain. did it come in yet? Your M? I hope so.

My 6D is here and charging. The lens you sent is still on a truck somewhere in Georgia. The tracking says it will be here today (hopefully about the time the lens shows up). We get UPS deliveries as late as 7pm or so.

Your M is mostly charged, so you can start shooting right away. I really hope it came in today.

Hey, wait a second. I can check the tracking on it myself.

Be right back.

Yep, it says delivered. Yay.

Now, let's see who gets the first pic posted: you with your M or me with my D. :)

Yep, it's here. Went home at lunch and grabbed it. I've taken just a few "test shots". Stuck my 70-200 on it just for fun, as well.

I thought everyone was complaining because it focuses slowly!

I'm itching to leave work so I can go find something worth shooting.

If you've already left work you'll probably beat me at posting. :(

I'm at home, but my 6D battery is still charging.

I posted selfies in the 6D section (using my iphone to make a timelapse of me opening the box).

Here's another M that I haven't posted yet. It's a little blown out, but I like it anyway. This is my daughter dressed as Effie (sp?) from The Hunger Games and me dressed as Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead at Dragon Con (like ComicCon but not nearly as big or cool...but still fun).

And here's another one of Edward James Olmos from the M. The light was so bad that I had to lift the exposure a ton in post, bringing up a lot of noise. I then ran it through some filters to try a thing or two.

I got my EOS M !!!

I'm just trying to beat EOS-Mike to the punch. He got his 6D today. I traded my EF 28-135 to get his EOS M. His 6D battery is still charging.

Anyway, not great art... but my old Mastiff served as my model. 6400 ISO with the 22mm EFM.

Here ya go, Mike!!!

I think the prime is actually 22mm.

Nice dog.

Here's a pedal car.

And this is one of my favorite EOS M images. I spent a long time working on it in post to erase the background.

But, alas....I'm running low on M photos. Not sure how much longer I'll last here. ;)

Why, yes it is. Thanks, updated all.

Nice dog.

Zeus came to us late in his life as a rescue. He is the most awesome 160 pounds of dog that I have ever had. He's the best house dog (although he thinks that he is a lap dog). And, he loves my grandson... who in turn loves him.

I promise to put up more "artful" work after I have a chance to find or make some light.

Dwain

I just picked up an EOS-M w/ 22mm for a great price on Craigslist.

Very happy with it so far. Image quality is great, especially at high ISO. AF is slow (even with v2 firmware), but for the price, I can live with that and have dSLR quality images in a camera that fits in my coat pocket!
