I sense that it's a hard concept for some folks to grasp much like the "not again" posts you see complaining about certain thread such as Nikon/Canon debates. There too it's easy to just pass it by but nope, they have to comment, just like a camera with video. It's easy to never use it but they just gotta complain.
I am still to see people shooting video with the current 7D. I know that some people do and realise that some movies have even dabbled with it, but in the real world I have seen many 7Ds roaming wild and not one was grazing on the video feature.
For me it's a bit like SUVs and 4x4s here in the UK. It's nice to have 4x4 if you live where it snows in winter or if you live on a muddy farm, but most people don't need it, even though they think they should have it just in case. For most, 4x4 is a wasted feature that spoils fuel economy, adds cost to the purchase price of the vehicle and is often never used.
