My bet is that their developing an M3 or M-pro to come out worldwide and with that they'll probably introduce the "new" M2 and 11-22mm lens. It's been rumored a while ago that they were developing 2 new M bodies, only one has come out. It only makes sense that the newer higher end model would have the new 20mp 70D sensor with the dual pixel AF system.

I'm hoping that Canon's love for optical VF's will shine through and we'll see an X-Pro style camera from them, that'd be amazing.

Sony a7R is one heck of a beast. I think I'm going to sell the EOS M pretty soon. Until Canon comes out with a FF mirrorless (possibly with a better sensor than Sony), I'll be thoroughly enjoying the a7R.. :D

Based on your sig it looks like you have the finances to enjoy such toys. I think much of the attraction for the current M is the affordability. I just hope Canon keeps with that trend.

Anybody got experience of the wireless trigger from Canon with the M? Good or bad? Only ever used cabled releases/intervalometers before

Also can you use flash triggers with the M? I have some yungnou ones that work fine with my 1D Mkii no problems but didnt with the M, am I missing something?

As for triggering the camera I use this RC-06 knock off, works great.
it's only $4 shipped from new jersey: link (external link)

Or you can get a genuine for $13 here: link (external link)

you just change the shooting mode to 10second with remote, then the remote had two modes to allow 10 second timer or instant triggering.

intervalometer I use magic lantern:

As for flash triggers I haven't had any issues with pocket wizard Xs, I've also used a pair of those Chinese/cowboystudio PT-04 ones with no issues. Both are non-TTL.

Well got the Fotodiox adapter today and have already filed the return with Amazon. Should have listened to the reviews as there is a 1-3mm movement in the adapter when attached to the camera. The adapter rotates on the camera that amount (lens attached or not) and pulls away slightly (maybe 1mm).

So going to return and then get the Meike. Construction on the adapter is very nice and has a great feel to it.. Lens attaches to the adapter very snuggly but not to the body.

With all of my EF/EFS lenses the AF is MUCH slower (except for the 55-250 strangely, which is only slightly slower). Bummer but not much I can do and not willing to take a subpar item, no matter how cheap.

Gear: EOS-M w/ 18-55mm & 22mm f/2 (EF-M to EF adapter), DEAD-Canon EOS 20D w/ Phottix Grip, Canon 50mm f/1.8 mkII, Tamron SP AF 24-135mm MACRO f/3.5-5.6, Tokina 19-35mm f/3.5-5.6 SOLD, Canon 55-250mm MK I IS,

For me (a former M owner and future M owner someday) this is what I want:

1. As small of a camera body as possible with an APS-C or larger sensor. The camera should fit in the pocket of loose slacks, cargo pockets and coat pockets.

2. Prime lenses that are a tiny as possible, allowing the first need to be satisfied.

3. The ability to take larger, EOS lenses.

The current EOS M is very close. The major improvement I'd like to see is actually in the prime lenses. The 22mm lens is a great prime, but it's still too big. When the lens is on the camera it adds over an inch to its depth, making it a pain to put in any pocket other than a coat. Yes, you CAN put it in pants pockets, but it's awkward and a constant nag when walking, sitting, etc. jogging would be out of the question (and by jogging I mean if you were, say, in an amusement park and needed to jog after a child or were in an airport trying to get to your gate, etc.).

So, for me, I'd like to see them make the M body just a little shallower and the lens thinner, if these two are possible, so that I can actually out it in my pocket (loose pocket--shorts,cargo pants, slacks, etc.).

Everything else about the M is just fine (for me). I was satisfied with the autofocus (it's a point and shoot, not a DSLR), and the ability to take any EOS lens is just amazing. Plus, the IQ is on par with a 7D. That's fantastic.

BUT......And his is big to me: if I can't put something comfortably in my pocket and forget about it, then I have to use a separate bag. And if I have to use a separate bag, then screw it: I'll just carry a DSLR with a pancake lens.

I can operate my 6D with the 40mm pancake (pretty much the same field of view as the M with 22) using one hand. Yes, it takes me two hands to adjust settings, but for shooting I can do it comfortably one-handed. In fact, I'm able to shoot my 6D easier with one hand than my M.

Something to think about.

But, that's just me and my needs/wants.

In summary, I want a camera in my pocket. If it doesn't fit then I'm bringing a DSLR.

If Canon wants a X100 killer they should rehouse the M in a Canonet body.
Every time I take my Canonet out every single person on the street stares at it.

I never get a second look when I have my DSLR out, the M is even less frequent(although I like that).

Even my bellow polaroids don't get as many looks.

They already have a great system In the M along with a killer 22mm.
Just rehouse it in a rangefinder body and add optical/electronic viewfinder.

The Canonet looks mush better than the X100 and other rangefinders(except for a few Leicas).
