Hey Rezcar, since you live so close to the HB park, I was there last weekend by the Cherry trees, there are a couple of blooms just starting. I will let you know when it starts to peak. It gets crazy with togs. This was taken last March 17, so it might be a lot earlier this year. It only lasts 2 weeks 3 tops.

It really becomes a spectacle on the weekends, portrait photographers doing family shoots with the trees in the background amid 20 or so bird photographers running around chasing bird shots all getting in each others way... I think I might be in the latter group.;)

Since this brings in lots of different birds, it also brings in lots of birds of prey! That is what I try to get when I can. BTW, not a bird of prey here. Unless you count bugs. (pic to show blossoms)

Cool! Looking forward to this.

Yesterday I stopped by Camp Pendleton again. I saw an Osprey(the aircraft not he bird) while driving, and got some shots of another Huey, a Cobra and a Harrier(the bird not the aircraft. Unfortunately none of them flew close enough to get usable shots at the 420mm I was shooting at the time(I don't think 600mm would have been good enough either), plus light sucked.

The over cast midday sky didn't help much for anything that was close enough.

I did manage to get shots of 2 more birds for my get a shot every type of bird in SoCal, the Harrier is pretty worthless but this White-crowned Sparrow produced some decent shots

I also saw a bunch of squirrels

As you can see conditions sucked, even the frame filling BIF shots weren't very good.

Hahaha, you beat me too it Butch. I can't touch the Bald Eagle shot, I've seen one once while I have my camera and at 500mm on a 1.6 crop sensor it was just a spec in the shot.
