I like the big white lens. IIRC someone was painting the black lenses white which really looked cool IMO.

that lens still isn't black...you need to spend more time drooling over the pics of these lenses at B&H.com :)...the primes below 200mm are black, all zooms, and primes above 200mm are white....200mm has black, and white

as long as you don't intend to sell the lens, i don't see anything wrong with it...if you're intending to sell though, your lens value just dropped significantly...

here's a paint article:
http://petapixel.com …s-with-custom-paint-jobs/ (external link)

if i were changing the color, i'd probably go all out, and use a paint pen...although this sharpie look isn't that great...:)

Thanks for the url. But ripping the whole lens apart is a bit too much for me....

I think what this means is that you don't own enough lenses, and need to augment your collection. :)

Now we just need a thread on how to make the 24-70 II white...

No way. The black ones look like grenade launchers :p. Everyone knows white is the cool look. The lens even stays cool on a sunny day.

White is a heads up for the bad guy that is looking for a quick, hassle free pawn. One rationalizes that white lenses stay cool on a warm day? Drinking too much Cool Aid my friend! If this were true why have no other manufacturers switched to white? Because it's nonsense...

Hey OP, send me your white lens and I'll send you my black 50-500.

I think it's a fair trade... ;)

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!
