Can anyone help me understand what some of the major pitfalls to editing photos on an LED tv screen? how accurately will it render the colors? Can the tv be calibrated and what would be best program for this?

Thanks for any help friends!

Most of them can be calibrated...but the larger issues are things like HDMI overscan and pixel correct rendering. Most TVs will actually not display the full image over HDMI, they cut off the edges (overscan) and then interpolate the remaining to give you 1920x1080. For pixel correct image editing that can be a problem.... My previous monitor NEVER displayed HDMI right, even when I went into the video card's settings (and only the more advanced cards, like nVidia, let you really tune the image size to correct for overscan), it would still interpolate along the edges of text, and it was a blurry mess.

Edge Lit LED TVs have some issues with screen uniformity and light bleed, what size/type are you considering?

Personally, I have a 23" Acer IPS with 10-point multitouch that is a really fun tool..and the IPS panel helps keep the image color more consistent as it improves viewing angles - since you generally sit close to a monitor the viewing angles towards the edges of the screen can actually cause a loss of contrast/color even if you are sitting directly in front of it.

Debating the merits of playing with some ultra-thin DOF and getting the 50mm out for the first time in like 2 years...

This may seem like a dumb question but I came across the second thread of the 60d posts and would like to see the first thread. How would I get there from the following page:

Thanks Steve, but do you know of a way to use the thread you are in ( say thread 2) to get to another (thread 1). In the first thread of 60d the last post in that thread tells you " click here" to get to the next thread but there doesn't seem to be a way to get from thread 2 back to thread 1.

Go to the first post in the thread you're in. When the Mods start a follow-on thread, we use the first post from the original thread (which is, the way we work, the first post in the each successive thread), and add a link back to the previous thread in the sequence. So you'll always be able to click back to any previous thread in the sequence. You, too, can do this by "quoting" the original thread and copying the contents to a new thread-starter post. But Thread 2 of the 60D Users Unite thread has a link back to the original thread; Thread 3 has links back to threads 2 and 1.

Yeah what happened to him, did he just stop popping in here or did he leave the forums entirely?

He pops in (last time was 2 days ago), according to his user profile (anyone can see that; Members List an search for him by name) but hasn't posted since August.
