Hey guys. I'm new to wide angles and wanted to get some advice. I plan on buying a lens before my trip to Hawaii next month. I currently shoot with a 6D (full frame), and have the 24-105 lens it came with. I also have an EF 85mm 1.8 prime I use.
I've been reading a lot and have been leaning towards the 16-35 F2.8L II. I like the idea of a zoom as they are handy and I'm not a pro. I'd like to keep my lens count down and I see this as a possible lifetime lens that will take care of my wider lens needs. It is spendy, but seems to be the best wide zoom I can find, which makes it less likely I will want to replace it. The biggest complaint I see is that it is softer than most primes.
Any thoughts would be great. If you have, or have shot with this lens how did you like it? Does another lens come to mind that I should consider? My future wish list: 24-70L, 70-200L. Possibly a standard prime as well. Thanks.
