Check out my review of these two 35mm lens. Very fast, sharp wide open and definitely something your current set of lenses cannot do, just like what "infinitedivide" said!

Thanks again guys. I've got a lot of ideas from your posts, which frankly was what I expected and why I posted originally. I might add that the "sports" I mentioned were field trialing. I field trial both Pointers (on horseback) and English Cocker Spaniels (lots of walking) so I tend to stay away from big and heavy lens for obvious reasons. I'll soon be 83 and I have enuf trouble mounting a horse or walking several miles that I don't feel that I can burden myself any more than necessary. In view of all this, maybe macro is the way to go for me! And that Sigma 35mm sounds tempting too. If I may be so bold, you all should read that review mentioed in a previous post. Great job man!!

thanks for reading it hrblaine, and i'm glad it helped a little bit.

the 100mm f2 non-macro is a nice and physically short little telephoto, very light as well. The 100mm F2L Macro is quite long and heavy, so that may be a deterrent for you. Good luck with your lens search and let us know what you end up getting!

Sell your 70-300 and 70-200 get a 135 f2 for fast action for the lower focal lengths and works great with extender. For long range get the Tamron 150-600mm as recommended by Kawi_200

Canon XTI | Canon 430ex | Crumpler 7MDH | 18-55mm

I decided that I need to explore macro, as it's something that I've never really thot about. After reading about 1000 reviews <g> I've pretty much decided on the Sigma 105 macro. Any of you guys have one? If so, what can you tell me. Harry PS And the one after that will definitely be that 35mm!!
