Tommy, nice zoo pics.

Macco, great shot of the Mouflons. I'm guessing that's somewhere in central/eastern Europe.

Thank you very much. Yes, this photo was taken in Poland last year.

How fast really is the AF on this? I know people boast about its AF speed, but how much faster and accurate in AI servo (yes, two different criteria) is it compared to say a 70-200 (f4 or 2.8, I just need a gauge)? I have just sold my 150-500 OS because I am getting a 70-200 2.8 IS II soon and along with that, a prime would suit me much better. The AF on the Sigma was also slow enough that I have missed quite a few shots when focusing from say 70m away to 20m away (this mainly in motorsport). Thanks! And keep the great pictures coming, they're a real motivation for me to keep saving :D

Thanks, I haven't had a chance to use this lens much. I find shooting animals at the zoo to be a little silly but I had to admit its fun with the 400 because you can get in close enough to see things you cannot normally see.

I purchased this lens used in December and I'm loving it, especially photographying Bald Eagles from the Mississippi River this winter.

Awesome images, Troy. That first image is a classic eagle fishing pic that every birder wants in his/her portfolio.

I live on the wrong side of the state. The few eagles we have around here are at the local lake and stay well away from anyone on shore. :-(

Thank you Mark, I drive from Illinois (about 2 hrs) a few times each year. It is so worth it!
