I've taken a whole lot of tree photos in my life and there are some mighty good shots here but I'm picking a recent one and posting it anyway. Worst thing is maybe no one likes it but me. I don't understand how the ice on this tree looks pink but that's how it looked in real life. Any theories?

I thought it might be at first but it looked the same from whatever direction I looked at it. So that can't be it. Besides it's too uniform to be reflected light.

I'm having a hard time deciding if I like the color or the B & W version better; possibly black and white. But, regardless, icy trees in winter look good to me.

I can't explain the reason for the ice color, but I like the photo!

Thanks for the kind words NCSA197. I like the black and white version of your tree too. Check out this image of ice on a thorn tree. It looks like it's black and white (almost) but it isn't. Not much color involved. I linked this photo in another post so I hope I'm not violating any rules. If I am, sorry about that. It's not uploaded though. It's hosted on another site.

I'm leaning towards the b&w image, but I love the colors/tones in the color version.

Not one of my favorite pictures, but one of my favorite trees. It's a 3,000+ year-old Bristlecone Pine on Mt. Charleston, outside of Las Vegas. Takes a hike of 6 miles (round trip) with an elevation change of 1,700 ft. to get to. It's at about 10,000 ft, I believe.
