Heya,

These images look superb. I don't see any problems for a 600mm $1k lens that is slamming out photos like these. They're sharp, bokeh is nice, etc. Seems other threads are slamming it like it's supposed to be super high quality `L glass (MK2 level) and they're comparing apples to fine cider. I think so far, for what it is and what it costs, it's doing what no other lens can currently really do in this price range. Seems like a real winner to me, in the context of it's cost.

Very best,

A while back, someone wanted to see how this lens does when tracking a bird flying AT you. While these aren't brilliant results, I managed a short couple of bursts this weekend and the weakness in the images are not due to the lens:

I'm not the greatest (really, I'm not even moderately *good*) at in-flight shots; if I can pull this off in the short distances that I had to work with, I'd imagine that someone that actually knows how to set up for one could do pretty darned well with it.

Great shots Eric.

@ Do you have a shot with tamron with 400mm fl @f8? The Sandhills shots are excellent.

Of course :) It was up at Reifel migratory bird refuge in Richmond, BC. If you hop over to the thread I linked earlier, there's a link to info about the refuge. I highly recommend it.

I ordered mine from B&H. The wait is worth it, for the peace of mind knowing the customer service will be great, if the lens shows up not up to snuff.

Very best,

I concur. Just sent back my defect copy to B&H and they refund it in no time.

Excellent Shot Eric! Really like the comparison between the 2 lenses a few posts back. The ducks coming at you seem fine too. Focus seems to be working. :)

And thanks t all the nice comments on the Hawk image. Much appreciated.
