Am I missing something, or is the velcro fastening setup on the 600rt case kind of silly? If they had rotated it 90 degrees, I could wear the flash case on my belt, but the way it is, it's too long for that, plus I'd be afraid the flash would fall out. What earthly use is that setup?

Yeah i know what you mean, I've never used it though to be honest. But i assume it is designed to go on like a bag strap.

It works too. I can put it on one of the straps on my backpack-style camera bag, and have the flash within easy reach, should I so desire. But if I think I'll need it pretty soon, but don't know for sure when, I usually mount it on the camera and just turn it off when it's not needed. Sure, the camera gets heavier, but then that will save me the expense of running to the gym every so often.
