Ask your local broker to inquire with CG&B Group. They write a lot of business in various media risks - film, television, photogs etc. They offer good coverages and the rates are reasonable. I can't quote rates off the top of my head but you could have your broker check into it.

Or if you`re in B.C... PM me and I can help you out! ;)

These guys insure something like 80% of professional photographers in Ontario. My insurance is $800/year and covers basically everything.

I was curious about those guys so i went through their website... have you read through your contract ? Was it custom made by an agent?

I am only asking because, If its anything like the brochure they have... oh boy.

Alot alot alot of things that i'd want inssured are not covered in there. I can only imagine they put absolutely everything in there but things like not having jewelry insured on a set is pretty scary.

I asked the woman a stupid amount of questions and all of her answers worked for me.

Any updates?
What did you decide on, Tanya De Leeuw?

I do not have renters insurance/house insurance because I am currently traveling abroad (based out of BC while in Canada). I want insurance to cover my equipment however I am just an amateur and only take pictures as a hobby. So I would like insurance that is very cheap.

Thanks

That's cheaper a year than most places I have found locally per month.

who are you with, if you dont mind most of us asking :)

Hi there
I live in Toronto Ontario. I use CGBGROUP.com for my insurance. They specialize in photographer insurance. In fact I know the adjuster and they pay out as required. I have 5 million coverage at $908 per year + HST. I would be nervous if someone charged $9 a month; the lowest price does not always inspire confidence.

Hope that helps

I am with The Cooperators. I provide them a listing of my gear and serial numbers each time I acquire to dispose of something. They assure me that my gear is covered under my Home Owners plan, regardless if it is stolen from my automobile, from a hotel I am staying at while on business, or I get mugged on the street. The only stipulation is that I cannot earn any income from my photography (not much chance of that anyway!).
