I had a bright early morning sun and was able to get within about 15 feet of the male Purple Martin,,,,,,,,,,did I do a little to much to the point the image looks fake?

They are truly a beautiful bird in real life.

To me it looks a bit over sharpened, see the white edge down the back of the bird.

Very nice tipidsale, tell me, when I attempt to shoot birds in trees I'm really struggling to focus on the birds themselves, autofocus seems to grab the nearest branch or leaf ... do you have any tips please ?

Thanks guys. Roger I frequently had that problem. Branches, leaves will mess up with the autofocus. Specially when you use the tracking AF it might lock on whatever is infront of the bird. I just try to look for a clear shot of the bird.
