The game will last 7 days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only. Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.
If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #510".

Submissions end, Tuesday, March 4th, 2014 at 5pm (EST) and a winner will be announced.

Nothing fancy here. I did play around with the Kodachrom effect I tried in #508 but the rest was just masking. I've never done a shadow before but I like the way it turned out. Copied the masked layer then Refine Mask, Output as selection, Invert, Delete, bring Saturation to 0, then free transform to match the other shadows in the image.

(In the course of posting these photos from DropBox, I learned that they don't show unless I change the link's www. to dl. I have no idea why this works, but it does.)

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

Krottski, my first impulse was to do a creek but thought it would look flat and phony. You did a great job with the elevated bank!

Thanks. Not happy with the interface between the bank and the grass on the Left Hand side but for 20min in GIMP what can I say. I might mess around with it some more at home in PS6 just to see how much better I could get it.

Decided a few insects were called for. Borrowed the bees from jelene http://flic.kr/p/6boZYF (external link) and the flutterbye from picto:graphic http://flic.kr/p/8hDg6M (external link) on Flickr Creative Commons. Made selections and put on own layers. Cropped image and ran through Topaz simplify filter and boosted saturation. Created text box and text and flattened/smart sharpened
