Lastly, my two favourite pics from the weekend. The Falcons have a Down Syndrome boy that practices, travels, keeps stats and sometimes gets to play. When they have a big lead or are losing big (not often) he gets in for the last minute or two. And I gotta tell ya, the boy can do a nice layup.

1st Set: Brent, very nice. Love the perspective. #4 is prime (my favorite). What did you change (do differently from your previous post w/the girls' captures?) Did you consider using Phil's advice about "pre-focusing?" 2nd Set: I enjoy the action and low positioning. On my monitor they a look a tad bit underexposed. Thank you for sharing the back story in #"s 15 & 16. Great story and your photo tells quite a bit of it. (#15 - Colts, allowing #10 - Falcons, to make the lay up. The "jube" of the Falcons after the 2 points are scored) I've seen this type of scenario in basketball about three times in my life. Always brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. Keep up the wonderful imagery.

Thanks.

I didn't change much from the girls shots, but in hindsight I think I should have left it exactly the same as the girls shots. I zoomed the lens a little bit instead of leaving it wide at 16mm. And I set focus a touch higher (closer to rim) as I figured the boys would actually be in the air a bit. I used 10x live view to set focus on the face of a boy standing on a chair at the orange line.

Looking at the other pics now again, I agree they do look a tad underexposed. I will go back through them and adjust exposures a bit.

Very nice images. Just want to toss out a reminder to use safety cables on EVERYTHING if doing a setup like this (and don't even think about doing it without liability and equipment insurance, as well as permission of the school). I had a near-nightmare just last Saturday doing this. A stray shot during warmups before the JV girls game knocked my Magic Arm off of the steel plate support I'd mounted it to (about two feet above the backboard). My cables not only kept anything from falling -- they kept everything in close to the same position. I didn't realize how bad it was until halftime, when I was able to get a ladder out and fix it (I thought the arm had simply been shifted until I got up there and saw how bad it was). The rest of the game and the varsity game went without problems. If in doubt, add another safety cable.
