My first L was the 70-200 f/2.8 mk2 to replace my EF-S 55-250 last year and last month I picked up a 24-70 mk2 to replace my EF-S 17-55mm. I've been replacing my EF-S lenses with EF's so I could make the move to full-frame from my 50D.

EOS R5, RF to EF adapter, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, 24-70mm F/2.8L II, Tamron 150-600 G2, 430exII.

My first L lens was a 24-105L. I picked it up a few months after getting my first Rebel body and really didn't know what an L lens meant. I quickly became addicted and over the past four years bought and sold various lenses to get to my current collection of glass.

The only two not with a red ring are the 40mm pancake for travel and the Sigma 85mm simply due to price. I expect that eventually the Siggy will go for an 85mm L to complete my collection.

My first L glass was a 70-200mm f/4 non IS.

I bought and sold it for the same price and had a good time with it.

Heya,

70-200 F4L

Light weight, constant aperture, internal focus/zoom, really sharp, incredible value for cost (I bought used for nearly half the current MSRP, thanks to everyone moving to the IS and F2.8 II versions).

Only downside is that I wish it had weather sealing. But my camera body doesn't, so it probably doesn't matter.

Very best,

Like many of the guys and gals here i think my first L sent me into a downward spiral of uncontrollable purchasing sprees over the last three years hunting for better image quality and sharpness. I think the recent 24-70 2.8 II nailed it finally and i am now (hopefully) content...

I'll probably soon grow restless and the hunt will continue...

Recently bought the 6D with 24-105 L combo. I am happy with it. Definitely as good if not better than the EF-S 17-55.

My first L was a 16-35, still have it after 3 years and multiple bodies. I shoot a lot of landscapes and street, so it was plenty fast and the crop factors are also very usable length. A little expensive up front, but I have no regrets. A life lens if you ask me.

First was a 28-70L. Ironically I never used it. Such a bad range on a cropped sensor.
