I have a 75-300mm and a 18-55mm and my 75-300mm usually does the trick for my wildlife/bird photography but is there a lens anyone reccomends or if anyone has any general equipment tips. I am looking at the Sigma 150-500mm for a possible new lens.
Any feedback is appreciated.

300mm is what I have but many times there is just not enough reach. Many on here prefer 400mm for Birding, but alas price of entry for me is too high. Not sure what your budget is but the lens you are looking at will serve you well mounted to a stable tripod.

Many people are trying out the new Tamron 150-600. It is getting good reviews and is cheaper than quite a few other options.

300mm normally would not be enough but with the XS and with the 1.6 crop factor the effective field of view at the long end of 480mm is marginal at best. Shooting eagles here in SE Pennsylvania I find that 800mm minimal is essential. I tend to shoot a bit wide to capture in flight and then crop in post.

Since this is likely a moderately expensive purchase you may wish to consider a rental prior to making a firm decisiom.

I use a 100-400L on a 60D for wildlife. I wish I could afford a 600 4. Even that would be too short at times.

You should consider the Canon 400 mm 5.6 l for wildlife and birds. It's a phenomenal tool. Some good info here:

A body upgrade. The xs is pretty limited in iso performance, frame rate, and buffer size. the focus system is also marginal. Even an upgrade to full featured rebels would be a step up but the 40D would be a reasonably priced upgrade. A long lens will feel unbalanced on the XS.
