Canajun, I wish.. I had my junky little portable tripod for assistance.. ;)

2n10, the last one of the large white/brown bird in the post was digital zoom at the equivalent of 2739mm..

Which is 215 x1.95 digital....

The little Hummingbird was 215 x 1.54 or equivalent of 1848mm

What a hoot... EXIF is attached as well...

Thanks AP I clicked on the first one and it didn't show the EXIF. Didn't check the rest.

Great captures of the Osprey. I kind of did the same except I think the distance was greater. It was at 215mm and 2X digital and the bird was smaller than your 2nd shot. Detail wasn't good but it was still easy to ID the bird. 4X digital it is only a little larger than your 2nd and detail is poor but very easy to ID the species.

Oh sorry about that... That was a screen print and edit for the arrow..

I'm amazed at the digital zoom quality sometimes.. For what it is it's hard to complain... :)

So true, it is very surprising. Much better than the SX20IS had.

Just for the exercise - these two shots were testing the zoom - so from wide to maximum zoom( not digital )

Spot the ball ...

Sorry it's a link but have trouble reducing picture size to this site's requirements! Got worse with Google+ mucking around with Picasa ...
