I think I'm going to call the insurance company tomorrow and inquire about a policy...

Returning home from a trip in a friend's van, I had left my camera bag on the floor so that it wouldn't roll around or fall off the seat in case of violent maneuvering. Someone opened the sliding door and the bag tilted. I grabbed for it, but the camera tumbled out and landed lens down on the concrete. It was my 550D with 17-55 f/2.8IS.

Smashed the UV filter and bent its ring slightly. A few minutes with a filter wrench, and a new filter later, good as new. Still using both today, and never ever without a filter on the front. :D

It's amazing, to me, how much abuse these great electronic marvels can take.
